The company can trace its origins back to when Birmingham born chemist Mr Philip Harris started to manufacture medicines and run a wholesale pharmacy.

Gradually the business expanded, and began to offer a more comprehensive range of science equipment alongside chemistry, focusing on the growing demand in schools and colleges.

Philip Harris still retains the values of its distinguished founder today, with its distribution and logistics operations in Nottingham, while its head offices moved to Hyde, Manchester in 2006.
