Safety first – Why EN61010 (2010) is so important

I think we can all agree that a post about changes to legislation affecting electrical products is a somewhat challenging proposition. However we have gone ahead and written one anyway as, whilst it might not be the most obvious of intriguing reads, it is an important topic.

So, the legislation in question is EN61010 (2010), which affects all electrical laboratory equipment and is designed to ensure that it is safe for use.

In order to gain a certificate the equipment is tested and subject to a risk assessment to ensure it is safe against the following:

  • Electric shock and/or burns
  • Mechanical hazards
  • Spread of fire from the equipment
  • Excessive temperature
  • Effects of radiation

As we take the quality and the safety of the products we supply very seriously we have worked over the past year to get all ours in line  with this legislation so you can be assured that the products you buy from us are safe.

And that is it. That is all we wanted to tell you – wasn’t too painful was it? If you are interested in finding out more about this or would like a copy of the certificates we have for our products then you can get in touch via techsupport@philipharris.co.uk
