International Darwin Day – 12th February

Since 1909, which was the 100th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin, there have been widespread celebrations in his honour. February 12th is now known as International Darwin Day as it now has a global status.

The objective of International Darwin Day is to encourage people to reflect on his principles of “Intellectual bravery, scientific thinking and perpetual curiosity”.

Here at Philip Harris HQ we have our own Darwin enthusiast whose little ears prick up every time he is mentioned. After just a few minutes of reading about his achievements it is easy to understand why. Since the publishing of his book ‘On the origin of species’ Darwin has been widely credited as making one of the most significant discoveries in scientific history and helped us better understand our place in the universe.
