The Touch Board™ by Bare Conductive® is a tool to makes your students projects interactive, responsive, smart or just fun. They can use the Touch Board™ to change the world around them by turning almost any material or surface into a sensor. The product is based on the Arduino Leonardo and uses the ATmega32U4, running at 16MHz and 5V. It can be reprogrammed using the Arduino IDE and a micro-USB cable.

Connect anything conductive to one of its 12 capacitive touch and proximity electrodes and trigger a sound via its onboard MP3 player, play a MIDI note or do anything else that you might do with an Arduino or Arduino-compatible device. It can be used as a USB mouse or keyboard, or as a USB serial port or MIDI device.

It has a 3.5mm audio jack and microSD card holder and comes with a 128MB microSD card. The Touch Board also has a JST connector for an external LiPo battery, a power switch and a re-set button.

  • 10ml electric paint available separately (B8R05973)

Children under 12 years of age must be supervised by an adult whilst using this product. Wearing gloves is advised whilst applying Electric Paint due to possible staining.

  • 12 high resolution capacitive electrodes: The Touch Board uses the MPR121 chip, giving it 12 capacitive electrodes. Configure these electrodes as either touch or proximity sensors, and program them to trigger outputs or stream data. Extend each electrode using conductive materials, for example Electric Paint. Using Electric Paint you can create sensors on a wide range of surfaces.
  • On-board MP3 decoder and MIDI synthesizer:The Touch Board features the MP3 decoder and MIDI synthesizer VS1053b. So you can play MP3 files or simulate a MIDI instrument. The MP3 files are read off the supplied microSD card and can be changed without having to reprogram the Touch Board.
  • USB serial, MIDI interface and mouse and keyboard: When plugged into a computer, the Touch Board can act as a USB Serial, USB MIDI Interface or as a USB mouse and keyboard. Use the data from the electrodes as an input for software that utilises either serial, MIDI or keyboard strokes.
