Large Newton's Cradle
Large Newton's Cradle
Product code: B8R06488
Product Description
Comprises five steel balls of equal mass, lined up and in contact with each other. When the first ball is raised and released, it transmits the force of motion through the stationary balls upon striking its neighbour, causing the final ball to arc. This phenomenon on does not occur if you place a disk of deforming material between the balls.
- Colour may vary.
- Dimensions: 280mm x 180mm x 290mm.
- Frame Material: Plastic
Product is fully assembled.
- A nice desktop display / demonstration item which demonstrates the force of motion
- Key Stage 3 Physics - Motion and Forces: - Opposing forces and equilibrium: weight held by stretched spring or supported on a compressed surface. Forces being needed to cause objects to stop or start moving, or to change their speed or direction of motion (qualitative only)
- Key Stage 4 Physics - Motion and Forces: Acceleration caused by forces; Newton’s First Law. Recall and apply Newton’s Third Law both to equilibrium situations and to collision interactions and relate it to the conservation of momentum in collisions.
