The Vibration Generator gives mechanical oscillations when fed by signals from an oscillator/A.F. amplifier (e.g. a Power Signal Generator - B8G85793).
The frequency response encompasses the whole of the audio spectrum and beyond. Electrical input is made via two 4mm sockets and the mechanical output is provided by a shaft terminating in a pair of clamping nuts. The locking slider feature allows the generator arm to be fixed to prevent damage. The Vibration Generator can be used in any position, free standing or clamped.
Technical Specifications:
- Peak-to-peak displacement: Maximum 8mm at 1Hz, diminishes as frequency increases.
- Frequency range: From D.C. to 10kHz.
- Coil impedance: 3.5Ω at 50Hz.
- Maximum carrying load: 150g.
- Dimensions: Width 100mm x Depth 90mm x Height 95mm.
This generator is ideal for the demonstration of transverse and longitudinal waves, essential topics within GCSE and Key Stage 4 Physics. Encourage deeper student engagement by exploring wave behaviour firsthand.
Required Equipment:
- Power Signal Generator - B8G85793 (or equivalent).
- 4mm Leads (two required) - B8R05705.
- A length of string.
In the absence of the Power Signal Generator, a Bench Signal Generator (PP00057620) together with a Power Amplifier (B8R07696) can alternatively drive this device.
For expanded capabilities, consider the Vibration Generator Accessory Kit (B8H30920) available separately. This includes a variety of accessories designed to broaden your demonstrations to encompass transverse, longitudinal, standing, and 2-Dimensional waves. Alternatively, opt for the comprehensive Vibration Generator Kit (B8R06826), which includes both the generator and accessories.
