Philip Harris Foundation Physics - Gears
Philip Harris Foundation Physics - Gears
Product code: PP00059187
Product Description
Foundation Physics - Gear Apparatus
Please Note: The Foundation Physics Universal Stand is also required but is not included and will need to be purchased separately using the code PP00054183.
- The Foundation Physics range centres around the Universal Stand and includes accessories which allow a wide range of experiments to be conducted. Each add-on includes a comprehensive instructional guide with student tasks which are linked to the curriculum. The Universal Stand is required for each add-on.
The Foundation Physics Gear Apparatus is a versatile hands-on tool that can be used to demonstrate many principles of physics.
Using the levers in the kit, students can explore the ideas of torque and mechanical advantage as well as more advanced topics, such as vectors.
Students can build first, second, and third-class levers and test each to decide which is the best in moving a mass.
The gears allow students to investigate mechanical advantage with gears, gear ratios, multiple and compound gears, combinations of gears and levers, and how the number of teeth in a gear affects the output force.
The Gear Apparatus includes:
- 2 x Gear with 12 teeth
- 1 x Gear with 24 teeth
- 1 x Gear with 36 teeth
- 2 x Levers
- 1 x Lever Stop
- Fixing Bolts
